I decided it was time to get some sewing done before hubby starts his chemo next week. Our cancer clinic gives pillow cases to the new patients, so I've made another batch for them. Hubby snickered and asked if he could pick one of mine and bring it back home :-)

The last pic is of Mocha and her personal pillow case. She hates it when ANYONE else tries to use it and has been known to nip if you get too close :-)

They are all lovely , it is hard to chose which one I like best. Good luck to your husband, next week. Oh, also very cute cat.

Didn't see that her name is Mocha, love her pillowcase.

Thanks. I really like this batch (I have made some before). Mocha tried out each pillowcase as I was trimming threads last evening - she sat on each one before giving her approval :-)

No better compliment from your husband than for him to want to bring home one of the pillow cases that you had made. Very nice selection that you have made, something for everyone. Thank You for doing this act of service. Having been on the receiving end, though not for cancer, I can tell you just how much these types of service mean to the receiver at such a difficult time in their lives. (((Hugs))) as you start this cycle with your husband.

I'm glad to hear you appreciate the service - It's nice to hear. I love doing stuff like this and I also make pet beds and fleece blankets for several animal shelters.

Also, thanks for the Hugs - starting this next phase with hubby will be tough, but we have lots of support from family and friends and are going into this with a positive attitude (and lots of jokes), so we will come out the other end better for it.

Sometimes jokes and laughter are the best we can do at the time, besides tears just make the eyes red and head hurt so I avoid them if possible though other times a good cry will bring some relief. Do whatever you need to to help you make it through the trial. In many ways health trials can be even harder on the family members as they must watch the loved one going through the surgery or treatments and see how difficult things have become on a once strong individual. Be sure to take care of yourself so you can continue helping your husband in the areas he needs help. Sounds like the jokes are exactly what he needs to help his spirits. Be sure to vent laugh cry or whatever you need here, as there are many cuties and plenty of shoulders to lean on as you need.

Dear Vida, how wonderful of you to do these wonderful pillow cases and also the pet beds etc. for our furry friends. I pray that your husband's treatment goes well and please be assured of my prayers for you and him and also the rest of your family. P.S. Mocha's fur is just beautiful. I love the eye liner!!!!!!!! She has good taste in pillowcases too! Love Chris

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Mocha has the most beautiful markings I have ever seen on a cat and everyone that sees her comments on them. We are looking to get her a playmate so she is not so bored while we are at the treatment centre. She is a very energetic kitty and needs lots of playtime.

i'd cut him a special deal on the pillowcase and design or message of his dreams. we had a friend who was going through radiation for brain tumors and his daughters made him a special t shirt on the computer each time with horrifying messages for the nurses. It was how he made a scary experience into a more humane, fun - welll, not fun, but some laughs - experience.

He chuckled and said I should embroider his name on a case so he could claim that one. With our luck, someone else with that name would be in line just ahead of us :-). I'm going to try to make something up that will put smiles on everyone's faces when he comes in to the clinic each week.

Vida, what a lovely caring heart you have. Your darling husband deserves a big kiss and hug from you for saying something so sweet, although he does have very good taste. ;)

Thanks - it's my little way of doing volunteer work and I know it puts smiles on the recipient's faces.
