HE/SHE'S GONE! A cacophony awoke me this morning around 6.00am - went upstairs and looked over our back balcony and there he/she was! This little Kookaburra is the fattest one we've ever seen and of course that is because there was only the 1 egg in this second batch!!
From the tree to this chair is only about 10 or 12 feet, so he will need to rest till he gets his breath back and fly out into the back reserve. Mum and Dad are close by keeping their eye on him/her. Well that's it till Springtime when it all starts again. Love Chris

Lovely Chris. Looks as though our wildlife is on the move. Have Kookburras around but none live at my place. Didn't hear possums running across my roof this year either

He/she does look fat! I don't know about you, but I like the birds here. What I don't like, is the bird droppings, on my outdoor furniture.

It is a plump little bird. We've got a bit of bird poop on the paving outside where he/she was sitting on the chair for a couple of hours this morning!!!!! Love Chris

Interesting, we do not know this bird here. I hang out my hanging baskets on the front porch each year and usually birds built nest in the geraniums. Then i spend weeks carefully watering as not to drown the baby birds. Kay

Hi Kay, yes Kookaburras are native to Australia and New Guinea. I'm glad you water carefully, I'd hate to think one of those little birds getting wet. You could always use a self-watering pot that you water from the base! Love Chris

One plump baby.A few weeks ago a baby magpie walked up to the front screen door & wanted to come in to be feed.We have never feed magpies & one of its parents stood one the grass watching.Husband went out & threw some bits of bread onto the grass but the baby ran away so the adult ate the lot.
Looks like the plants are not the only ones that are confused about the seasons.

How wonderful Judy, I love Magpies especially their warbling in the morning. Magpies can become quite tame. One of my friends was telling me the other day that one of Magpies that had nested in their backyard was constantly knocking on their front and back doors begging for food! Love Chris

Well the chairs have been there for 10 years or more and are a two tone green. Our little baby Kookaburra is a soft brown, grey and white - so I think he/she chose to 'blend' with them he he he! Love Chris
