I am on Jim's laptop as most of you know we are redoing my office....of course older kitties are not happy being displaced for this time, but I think they will be fine when they see their new digs....here is my question to you all.....I have decided it is ridiculous to have this huge expensive bernina just to sew seams on......so am thinking of selling it & getting a small machine that just has small hoops as a back up to the Melco and to do straight stitching on....what are your thoughts and any suggestions where I should sell it? Thanks and I am dying to get back to work!!!! Vicki

Questions I would ask: How many fewer square inches will switching out machines give you? Does the embroidery module separate from the current machine and give you more table top space? Will the new one have the quality of the current one? Wait another month and keep thinking and imagine missing the current one....All my children buy and sell on Craig's List. Above all, don't rush! :)

I actually use both my multi-needle and sewing/embroidery for for embroidering. I will use both when I am pressed for time. I agree totally with joansatz and the questions she has asked. Take your time in making a decision. Can't wait to see the cats' new digs. It will be worth their present angst, I am sure.

I don't like removing the embroidery part of my machine to sew with, so for me, I have other machines that I use for sewing. I leave the embroider machine for just that.
I also agree with others, don't be hasty with your final call.

Ditto to all the good advice given, but if you do decide to to try to sell, go to the yahoo groups "SewItsForSale" and "SewingStuff4Sale". Here you list your items and if someone is interested they contact you off list. I have used it to both sell and buy with no problems. Good luck with your dilemma. Hugs. Nan W

I am like you, use only my multi for embroidery and my Ruby Deluxe for stitching, but after a lot of thought decided to keep it (in case). You won't get much for it if you sell it because the value drops drastically for used machines. I was offered 1/3 of what I paid for it and it was only 1 year old.
Never know what the future holds, I say keep it if you have the room, I can remove the embroidery unit and it is stored away so it limits the space in my tiny sewing room.

If you do decide to get a smaller machine, do that first and think about getting a used one from one of the sites mentioned below. You can always sell your huge Bernina later if the small machine works out. When I upgraded, I immediately sold my smaller machine then found a class I wanted to take and wish I had kept the smaller machine for traveling. Just don't decide anything in a hurry.

I bought a new machine and gave my Bernina to my daughter. I finally took the new one to her and said I wanted my Bernina back. Every time I take it in to be serviced they want t buy it. No way am I giving it up. They are a great machine.

I would get the new machine and tuck this one in a closet until you are absolutely sure you will not need it.

I have a 25 year old Bernina that is for sewing---I have a small sew/emb machine that I have sitting beside my 5x7 emb machine---I have an OLD emb/sew machine out in a shed---I kept it and find parts that I can use for the sew/emb machine---one day it will get the sledge hammer---not worth fixing so I am reusing parts and accessories---I enjoy reading your readings esp about your beloved ANIMALS!!!!!
