I was in need of a mug bag , to take to my Quilting Guild. I first saw this type of bag in a store, but when I saw it again on Kenny Kreations I knew I just had to make a pattern. I first tried it with a 6 in square and it was just too large. This one is a 5 inch square , I used a flexible cutting board from the dollar store and placed in the bottom for support. I love fonts so I took a design from Embroidery Library removed the center and doctored up a letter for my self. Thanks for looking!

Wow... this is gorgeous. I've never heard of a mug bag before, but I think I know what you are talking about. I love this type of closure too. I saw a casserole carrier pattern the other day that was done in a similar fashion and was thinking about how I could use that for a tote bag.

PS.... what a great idea to use those flexible cutting boards from the dollar store as stiffener for the bottom of bags. I've been using plastic canvas, but the cutting boards will actually work much better, and at a better price point. Thanks!
