I have a problem stitching out a basting outline. In one spot of the outline, my thread always jams up, shreads, or breaks. I've looked at the stitches in my software and can not see anything wrong with them. I have no other problem stitching designs out. I've changed needles, cleaned everything, slowed the machine down, changed threads...nothing seems to fix the problem. Does anyone have an idea as to what may be causing this problem?

What's happening in that one spot? Is it a jump?

Try deleting and then upload again,Or turn your machine off to "reboot" Sometimes this helps :)

I also have huge problems with basting stitches, as the first few stitches do not seem to 'catch' in the material - so it just unravels as it goes just leaving holes and no stitches. I have never got any basting stitches to work :(

When you baste your fabric onto backing paper you must bring your bobbin thread to the top ,hold you top thread and slowly turn your wheel to bring the bobbin thread up then hold both ends till it start stitching

I had a similar problem with my Janome 350e. The thread would catch & break as it turned the right hand top corner of the basting stitch. After checking everything I found the plastic embroidery foot had split & the thread was catchng in that. It was quite hard to see.

Me too. My basting frame stitch from my embroidery software skips and won't catch.

It only does it about 2 inches before the end, just before it stitches the top left corner.

Hmmm...did you digitize the basting stitches in your software...are they built in to your machine...I agree with Monika...it does help to bring up the bobbin thread...but that does not sound like that is your problem. Is it specific to just one hoop or do you have this problem with the basting stitches in all your hoops...

It came with a design I bought a long time ago. I tried yesterday to modify it by increasing the density so that the stitches are closer together and shorter. That has helped, but why I don't know.
