So i often see others posting how they have 2 embroidery machines on here...I have been wanting to get a second one for awhile....Today I went to Montavilla sewing to pick up 2 small parts for my long arm quilter...anyway while i was there i browsed...oh they were having classes on embroidery tips and they were having sales on used machines (plus new ones which i cannot afford at this time). anyway i asked what machine is comp to my brother 4500D...so they were just finishing up reconditioning and giving a Babylock BLL a good cleaning....I asked how much and it was- $1500.00 0% interest for 18 months...hmmmmm ok i was going to think about it...meanwhile i went to get my parts i needed....the clip that broke was $2.50 not bad, but the stitch regulater (THAT WENT MISSING FROM MY MACHINE) $176.49 OUCH....so needed this part checked my wires/cords to see if they fit...didn't fit so they went to get another one that was suppose to work...OUCH OUCH that one was $286.56....oooh so maybe i could find one online...well then he said that he would throw that part in if i purchased the embroidery machine....welll then he walked around the corner and picked up the 100 spools of floriante embroidery thread....then he threw in a package of prewound bobbin thread...then into the deal went 3 packs of titanium needles...plus the part that was only $ 2.50....so if you figured the costs of everything i would have to buy individually minus the price of the machine....i supposedly got the embroidery machine for only a little over $600.00...well it sounds good on paper anyway.....The machine comes with a 3 year warranty on cleaning/service---parts---repair---- OK SO I DID IT...SUCKER THAT I AM... Now to find a way to bring the machine into the house tomorrow and all that thread without the hubby seeing it....I told the guy i wasn't sure how i would hide it from my hubby...he just laughed and said that was my problem....no help there....I AM SO EXCITED ANYWAY....

Congratulations. You have put the reasons why its good to buy from a dealer and not from a supermarket or the like. You will continue to get good service for years (and maybe another machine or two) Have fun sneaking a new machine into the house. Can you send your husband out for a while as you are bringing the new machine in?

Oh lovely
by hightechgrammy 25 Apr 2015
Oh Silly, just go up to him and say, I have something I really need to tell you, and I'm not really sure how.... He'll think is something really bad...... then when you tell him about the incredible deal you got, he'll be fine. And.... if not you could always sell it and make a profit!
He'll say to keep it, of course. If he buys cars, he'll understand!

Life is good! Enjoy your new machine! I'm glad you have a good dealer. It is so miserable when a dealer doesn't help.

It is a fantastic deal! You will enjoy having a second machine - it is so nice to be able to do something else when, especially while you are doing lace, you want to do something else too. Good luck and enjoy the new one too.

Even though I have 2 machines I cannot embroider on both at the same time, It would drive me crazy.

Bev, i thought that too. Set one up with a hoop FULL of FSL lace designs, all one color and start it. Then give your attention to the #2 machine with something that requires more tending. Every so often, glance over at your FSL tree ornaments or whatever.
by camylow 23 Apr 2015
I think I will set the bigger desins on one and do the ones that have more thread changes on the other....im' not really into fsl, but maybe now I can start.

You are going to LOVE the new machine! It is awesome!!!

Hope the move into the house went well.
Congrats on the great bargain. You saved him advertising expenses.
My DH doesn't notice a thing! Except what machines I have!
Though come to think of it, he hasn't noticed that one is missing - it is in the shop for service.

Tell him the truth. Just say too him as you said here that you always wanted a second machine & when you went to the machine shop to pick up parts for your machine, you saw a machine which you looked at then looked again & knew you couldn't afford it as it would be over $1500 but the temptation was so high when it was only going to cost $600 (which is the money value u paid) you looked into the history etc. then as you just couldn't pass such a good machine wanting a home, it is now in the car waiting to come inside, or if it's inside, you have found a home for it. if he asks where the home is take him in to show him how well it looks or just say its in your sewing room them change the subject quickly to the last thing he brought or what is on his wish list. Enjoy

Forgot to say that when my hubby said he didn't know what to get me for my Birthday Christmas & our Wedding Anniversary which come all within 16 days I sweetly asked if he had any Idea what he wanted as his (BD is 1 Dec & our anniversary is 2 Jan) he told me his wish list so I told him I would like something to add to my sewing room (he pulled a face & said that it in the too hard basket) so we did a deal He would buy his & I would buy mine. so brought my machine home in a Big box which I opened on Christmas Day (I had already tested it or 3 week) I think it will be a long time before he'll want me to buy my own gifts. I Love my 2 machines but need more time in the days.

I needed a new sewing machine with a longer arm. He told me that as long as he didn't have to pay for it I could it. He also I had enough fabric (true) and didn't need to buy any more, but I'm tired of looking at the same thing. so when he left for work off to the thrift shop. I stashed it in my fabrics and he will never know.
