After seeing Carolyn's new method using you're mbroiderymachine to quilt, I showed her my table mat I made many years ago using an old method of machine quilting. This was shortly after I purchased a chep embroidery/sewing machine and only had a 4x4 hoop. I made traced a continuous line quilt design onto tissue paper and pinned it to my quilt "sandwich" and then lowered my feed dogs on the machine and followed the lines. Then had to tear carefully tear away the tissue paper and then do the binding. Made these for all three of my living room tables so when little ones came and wanted to run their little cars over the table tops, they would not scratchmy tables. Works very well and looks nice too!

I had forgotten the tissue paper techinque. I think I'll give it a try since I've started machine quilting. I love that little coaster too. Do you remember where you got the design from?

I made these mats 9 years ago and I do not remember where I got the,eat design but you can go to Google and do a search forPantograph patterns or continuous line quilt patterns and I am sure you be able to find some sites to get something you like

I love how we can be so creative, or inventive, when the need arises. I like your table covers and your quilting. I once used a simple flower/scrolls drawing on tissue paper, my daughter had drawn. I stitched it on navy satin, just enough for the top of an evening gown and a bag to match. If I can find a picture (and I don't forget) I will show you. I stitched it with iridescent thread on my regular machine before I got my first emb machine. Thanks for showing us this. I need to make one for a much larger table.
