SLLAKIN-Cuties this was a design my daughter drew, when she was in high school and before I owned any embroidery machine. I stitched the satin fabric going slowly, on my sewing machine, with iridescent thread. My girlfriend made the dress and I made the little handbag. If memory serves me, I sewed on sequins too. Not sure if you can see it very well, though. I added a close-up of dress. This is the only photo I found with the little bag. Guess you know it was prom.

It opened up to be like a square, I guess. I made it up and I know I used plastic canvas in the 4 sides to hold the shape, probably the bottom too.

This beautiful dress is really one to be remembered - and you did it on your SEWING machine ???

by toogie 26 Apr 2015
I stitched the design on the fabric with my sewing machine, yes. I either sewed over tissue drawing or I traced it onto the fabric, I can't remember. I do remember using the tear-a-way behind it though. I just did enough fabric for the top of the dress and the bag. I made the bag, but my friend made the dress. My friend made all Ashley's gowns. She was in things at school, Homecoming and Proms, and my friend makes these kind of dresses. I paid her of course, couldn't expect her to work for nothing, but I know she gave me a good rate. My friend also made my daughters gown when she was Homecoming Queen, you should see that one! It has yards and yards of tulle.
